The man was rescued from below a metro pillar on EM Bypass opposite Duttabad.KOLKATA: A 43-year-old resident of Madhyamgram in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, who did not return home after testing Covid positive last Tuesday fearing that his family members will get infected, was rescued from below a metro pillar on EM Bypass opposite Duttabad in Kolkata after three days on Friday.
The person’s family members had contacted Bidhannagar MLA and fire services minister Sujit Bose on Friday, saying that the man might be somewhere near Bengal Chemical More off EM Bypass.
“The person’s family members contacted me. I immediately asked Bidhannagar ward 38 councillor Nirmal Dutta to look into the matter so that the person could be traced out,” Bose said.
Councillor Nirmal Dutta then along with the police and the family members who had come then went on a search near the place as mentioned as they found the man to be roaming beside a metro pillar off Duttabad. An ambulance was called in as the man was sent to a quarantine centre in Rajarhat.
“As per the family members, the man works as a parking agent in Salt Lake. They said that the man underwent a rapid antigen test at Bidhannagar sub-divisional hospital on September 8 and tested positive after which he did not return home, fearing that his family members will get infected. He reportedly stayed back in Salt Lake and went missing for the last three days,” Dutta said.
