Telangana continues to record a high number of fresh COVID-19 cases on a daily basis. More than 1600 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the state on Monday which took the overall caseload past the 93,000-mark in Telangana. Eight people died due to COVID-19 in Telangana on Monday as the death toll in the state reached 711.
Hyderabad has been witnessing a steady decrease in new cases as the curve seems to be flattening. Hyderabad was once the worst affected district in Telangana and was reporting more than 500 cases on a daily basis. However, the city on Monday saw only 235 new cases of COVID-19, which is a hugely positive sign for the health officials and the authorities.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region reported 235 new cases followed by Rangareddy, which is emerging as the new hotspot in the state with 166 new cases once again on Monday. More than 100 cases are being reported on a daily basis in Rangareddy. As per the latest health bulletin, 19,579 samples were tested on August 17 (Monday).
So far more than 7,70,000 tests have been conducted in Telangana which is far higher compared to several other states in India. Telangana government has increased the rate of testing in the state which has helped in identifying and treating new patients at the earliest. As per the bulletin, 20,818 samples have been tested in Telangana per million population.
So far more than 72,000 patients have managed to recover from COVID-19 in Telangana and there are 21,024 active cases in the state who are under treatment. The fatality rate in Telangana has been 0.75 per cent while the fatality rate in the country has reached an alarming 1.92%. The recovery rate in Telangana is over 76% while India’s overall recovery rate is just over 72%.
