Novus Green, a Telangana-based renewable energy company, has been awarded a 15 MW (19.5 MW DC) floating solar power project from Singareni Collieries Company Limited. The company will perform the complete engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work of the Telangana project. The construction of the floating solar project is scheduled to begin in early 2021. While the project is expected to be completed before September 2021.
Sungrow, a global inverter solution supplier for renewables, said it would power the 800 MW Al Kharsaa project in Qatar with its 1500V string inverter. The inverter enables flexible block design allowing up to 6.75 MW, significantly saving the initial investment and streamlining operation and maintenance. The project will represent around 10% of the country’s electricity peak demand while reducing 26 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions during its lifetime.
GKN Automotive joined hands with Tata Technologies to establish an advanced e-mobility software engineering center in India. The new center, located in Bangalore, will utilize Tata Technologies’ expertise in electric and embedded systems. The new facility will be used to develop next-generation e-drive technologies for forthcoming electric vehicles.
Schneider Electric Solar has launched the MPPT 100 600 solar charge controller for homeowners. The solar charge controller allows homeowners to optimize battery charging from solar and maximize energy resiliency. It is also suitable for prolonged blackouts. Even if the battery inverter shuts down due to a fully discharged battery during night, the MPPT charge controller allows the system to recover when photovoltaic returns. The MPPT 100 600 provides 25% more charging power compared to the MPPT 80 600 charge controller.
Aggreko and Gold Fields have completed a hybrid solar and battery microgrid to power a gold mine in remote Western Australia. Aggreko designed the 8 MW solar and 2 MW/1 MWh battery storage system and integrated it with the existing 27 MW natural gas power facility at the Granny Smith mine. The hybrid system will produce around 18 GWh of energy annually.
Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation and NTPC Vidhyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to set up a solid waste management facility. NVVN, a subsidiary of NTPC, will set up a waste-to-energy facility at an expenditure of ₹450 million (~$6.14 million).
