There are about 100 private hospitals in these districts, with Ranga Reddy accounting for 35 of them.
According to sources said, verification of about 40 hospitals in Hyderabad has been completed. The details complied will either be used by the taskforce for monitoring or included in the daily bulletin or dash board that is supposed to go live, sources added. On day 1 of the assembly session, Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, had announced that a weekly report will be sent on billing of Covid-19 patients admitted in private hospitals.
Meanwhile, after ramping up of testing, the state government has come up with a plan to widen the scope of testing. This is said to be in response to the recent ICMR guidelines that testing may be conducted on all those seeking it irrespective of symptoms. Till recently, the state was conducting antigen tests mostly on symptomatic patients only and those were displayed symptoms. If the patients tested negative, it was not being followed up with a RT-PCR test. A health department official said, “Following this, in some areas some people have tested positive in RT-PCR tests, after they were found negative in antigen tests.”
Reportedly in Ranga Reddy district, an entire family tested positive in antigen tests while the family member who actually had showed symptoms tested negative. When it was followed up with a RT-PCR test, he turned out to be Covid-19 positive.
