Maharashtra: 203 villages under Thane Zilla Parishad now ‘corona free’
Amidst the spiraling COVID pandemic crisis in Maharashtra, Thane Zilla Parishad has announced that a total of 203 out of 430 villages under the parishad do not have any coronavirus positive cases and the panchayats there have put up green flags to highlight the feat.The Chief Executive Officer Hiralal Sonawane said on Sunday, that villages which do not report any COVID-19 case for 28 days are termed ‘corona free villages’. The official informed that Thane district has 430 village panchayats in all. He said the recovery rate in the rural parts of the district is 79.24 per cent while the doubling rate of cases in the ZP area was now 84 days.
Two days ago, 206 villages out of the 341 villages in Aurangabad district were declared as free of Covid-19. The success of this is attributed to the sincere efforts of administration wherein they monitored the containment zones and conducted constant checks on elderly villagers helping in controlling the spread of infection.
