- The number of tests in the state also came down on Sunday
Telangana witnessed a small drop in the number of positive COVID-19 cases on Sunday as a total of 1,590 people tested positive for the infection in the state. The number did come down but it’s also a fact that the number of tests conducted was also on a lower side. The officials conducted 5,290 tests on Sunday while they had tested 6,427 people a day before that.
On Sunday, 3,700 test negative while others were found to be positive. The state also witnessed huge recovery – 1,166 people were discharged from the hospitals. Seven people lost their lives, taking the toll to 295.
The officials have now conducted 1,15,835 tests in Telangana. Out of these, 91,933 tests have returned negative while the state has witnessed 23,902 positive cases, There are 10,904 active cases in Telangana. A total of 12,703 people have been discharged so far.
Hyderabad, the worst-hit city in Telangana, accounted for 1,277 new cases on Sunday. It has been witnessing over 1,000 cases for a few days now.
Rangareddy, which came close to recording 100 cases on Sunday, accounted for 82 cases. Of course, low testing is the reason behind the dip in the number of positive cases from the region.
Telangana is one of the states which has been witnessing a high number of cases since entering Unlock 1. The number of positive cases has been on a higher side for a month now and it is expected to witness record cases in the coming days.
Low testing remains to be one of the biggest concerns as the officials haven’t been able to conduct enough tests. The state had decided to enhance its capacity to testing 10,000 people on a daily basis but that hasn’t been done yet. In fact, the number of tests conducted dropped on Sunday.
